A masterly illustrator and painter and President of the Royal Academy. With Holman Hunt and D.G. Rossetti he founded the Pre-Raphaelites and contributed to all influential periodicals of his day. He also illustrated the Moxon edition of Tennyson and a number of the novels of Anthony Trollope.
