Maxfield  Parrish    (1870 —  1966)

Parrish was born in Philadelphia and showed talent from an early age. He is best known for his colour, though his earliest work was black and white. He illustrated many books and contributed to scores of magazines, including Scribner's, Harpers and the Ladies' Home Journal. In the course of his long and productive career he became one of America's most popular artists.
